Until the evening (local time), the heavy seaquake in front of the Russian peninsula Kamchatka and tsunami warnings in the Pacific had called for a fatality-at least indirectly: On the Japanese island of Honshu, a 58-year-old Japanese crashed to safety with her vehicle. Due to a driving error, she fell from a cliff.
On the sparsely populated peninsula Kamchatka, off the coast of which the earthquake had occurred at a distance of around 120 kilometers with the huge magnitude 8.8 at 11:24 a.m. local time (CEST: 1.24 a.m. at night), a number of buildings caused damage from the excess of earth. According to Russian information, several people were violated, but there were no reports from dead.
