Only recovered dead was a vacationer on the Traunstein, as the mountain rescue confirmed Gmunden. The lady – year of birth 1945 – is likely to have a fatal accident on Tuesday afternoon when descending via the Mairalmsteig at the level of the Bründl.

The Mairalmsteig, on which the accident happened, is considered the oldest and easiest way to reach the 1691 -meter -high summit of the Traunstein. The accident passed near the Bründl, the only water source on the Traunstein. The 79-year-old is likely to have crashed around 150 meters and have been fatally injured.
Immediately after the Bründl, a difficult and steep section of the rises can be mastered. Although this is secured with steel ropes, this still requires sure -footedness.
Two helicopters in use
The mountain rescue Gmunden was also in use as the team of the rescue helicopter Martin 3. The emergency doctor could only determine the death of the woman. Her body was recovered by the police helicopter by rope and brought to the valley.
