The fire broken out on Tuesday afternoon spread rapidly and destroyed 12,000 hectares of vegetation in the Corbières-massif near the Mediterranean coast until Wednesday afternoon. The flames in the drained area are at a strong wind and heat. On Wednesday evening, the prefecture reported that over 16,000 hectares of land were affected. “Since 1949, this has undoubtedly the fire that has destroyed most hectares of land,” said France Interior Minister Bruno Retailleau at the site.
