The authorities did not reveal exactly where and how the attack should have taken place. However, the plans are said to have been very concrete. The Directorate for State Security and Intelligence (DSN) and the State Office for the Protection of the Constitution and Counter-Terrorism have taken notice of the 21-year-old because he is said to have posted Islamist slogans on Twitter. He was also observed meeting Islamists known to the police in mosques. Finally, the Viennese was arrested.
Wiener was convicted
During a search of his apartment, the authorities discovered the attack plans. Last Wednesday, the man was convicted at the Vienna Criminal Court, among other things, as a member of the terrorist militia IS. The verdict, which is not final, is two years, of which he would have to spend eight months in prison.
The attack was planned for the spring of the previous year, six months after the terrorist attack on November 2, 2020, in which four people were killed and 23 people were injured, some seriously. The perpetrator was shot dead by the police.
