AK Braunau raised more than 4.5 million euros for members

Last year, 5,511 members contacted the Braunau Chamber of Labor (AK) with labor and social law issues. Out-of-court interventions in 113 cases brought in a total of 157,000 euros in withheld payment. In 40 cases, 421,945 euros had to be fought for through legal representation before the labor court, according to AK district office manager Stefan Wimmer at a presentation with Andreas Stangl, the president of the AK Upper Austria.

In social law matters, the AK Braunau won 3.78 million euros, it was mainly about pension and pension entitlements as well as care allowance. In addition, around 240,000 euros were enforced for 45 employees from six insolvent companies in the previous year. As an example, the AK cites the case of an employee from the Braunau district who was employed as a project manager before she fell ill and had to go to inpatient treatment. Four months after she fell ill, she received notice of termination from her boss. The young woman contacted the AK Braunau, which pointed out to the company that due to the termination on sick leave, the entitlement to continued payment of wages also existed after the end of the employment relationship. In addition, the employee had not received any money for several months. Therefore, the AK called for additional payments, the company paid around 9400 euros gross, according to the chamber.

long distances

According to the AK, only 23.5 percent of employees from the Braunau district have their workplace at their place of residence. 42.1 percent commute within the district, 34.4 percent have to commute out of the district. 29.9 percent of those affected have to travel at least 40 kilometers there and back.

Since the Braunau district is closely linked to the Salzburg area in terms of commuters, the further expansion of the railway between Salzburg and the district is a particularly important concern, according to the AK. The modernization and electrification of the Mattig Valley Railway should also be continued quickly.
