As it became known on Tuesday, a third was hired after a complaint about a breach of the mask requirement in Innsbruck. This happened “due to your client’s parliamentary immunity,” according to a statement published by Kickl’s attorney on February 10.
Objection to punishment
However, the National Council had previously judged similar cases differently and decided to lift Kickl’s immunity. This was the case for the first time in April last year. Kickl raised a legal objection to the administrative penalty. According to FP, the process is still ongoing.
Only on January 20 of this year was a vote again taken to lift Kickl’s immunity. In this case, it’s about a demonstration on December 11 at Heroes’ Square. Here, too, Kickl had not worn an FFP2 mask at a mass rally.
