Amsterdam police reported a hostage and a gunman at the Apple Store on the popular Leidseplein, close to the famous Rijksmuseum art gallery on Tuesday, February 22 at around 6 pm.
Police officers arrived at the scene and negotiated with the gunman. IN Twitter departments published the current situation, in particular requests not to pry and not to look for the place where the incident occurs.
“Since the start of the hostage taking at the Apple Store on Leidseplein, several people have been able to leave the building. They are under the protection of police officers and are sent to the department to testify and provide further assistance and support as survivors of the terrorist attack,” the police said in a statement.
The situation was resolved after a few hours, around 23 pm. The cops took the kidnapper when he tried to escape from the store.

Local broadcaster AT5 suggested that the incident was the result of an unsuccessful attempted armed robbery. Some witnesses reported hearing gunshots, but this was not confirmed by the police.
