
On Wednesday evening there was a serious traffic accident on the West Autobahn between Mondsee and Oberwang (Vöcklabruck district). At 7:07 p.m., the volunteer fire brigades Mondsee and Guggenberg were alerted to a rescue. A truck had been raised in the construction site area onto the concrete meat line, the trailer and an excavator carried with it had fallen over the guiding rail and had broken through the noise barrier.
According to the police, the 58-year-old driver from the Schwaz district in Tyrol came off the road due to a short carelessness. “Fortunately, the driver was not injured,” said operations manager Walter Hemetsberger from the Mondsee fire brigade. The emergency doctor and the Red Cross were able to move out again after a short time.

Settlement work lasted six hours
To prevent traffic jams, the fire brigade and police enable a single -track passage. The use was complex: Overall, the rescue of the heavy vehicle took over six hours, said Hemetsberger. A specialized mountains had to be requested.
The road could finally be cleared with a crane – the motorway in the direction of Vienna had to be completely blocked. The traffic was diverted to the main road via the Mondsee exit.
A total of more than 45 firefighters and around 15 other emergency services from the Red Cross, the police and mountains were deployed.
