Compare fees of credit and ATM card
The so-called “plastic money” is particularly popular and practical as a payment method, in the euro area you can pay uncomplicated and without additional fees with a card. “Basically, ATM cards work in most countries, but there are fees for use outside the euro zone.
At the bank, you should find out in advance about fees for paying and withdrawing, mostly these consist of fixed and variable component. In addition, it is worth checking whether a card limit is stored for foreign payments. Also important: In the case of cash withdrawals or card payment abroad, always choose the offsetting in state currency – the alternative “immediate conversion” (e.g. in euros) sounds practical, but is usually associated with a significantly poorer exchange rate.
