Burning police car – defendant has “nothing to do” with it

The prosecutor accused the accused of using social media to incite young people to take action against the police on November 14. The reason was the frustration with the Corona measures. According to the prosecutor, he is said to have planned the attack “perfidiously”. One group was supposed to lead police officers into the “ambush”, another douse a patrol car with petrol and set it on fire. The former was supposed to shoot firecrackers and thus attract officials in order to then throw stones and firecrackers at them. In the meantime, the young people of the second squad have made the police car, the prosecutor described. “If you get caught by the police, pour them over and set them on fire,” he is said to have said. In order not to be easily identified, everyone should dress in black.

The accused denied the allegations. He didn’t call for an uprising against the police, he just posted: “Ebelsberg 6 p.m.”. On November 14, one day after his birthday, he went for a walk in the evening with his dog Barik – that’s also the name of the youth gang – and briefly met and greeted the youth of the gang. Then he went home “so that nothing bad happened”.

His defense attorney also spoke of “deriving from the posting that my client is the ringleader, is a bit thin”. There is “not a single description of what specifically my client actually did”. The prosecutor countered that witnesses had been intimidated and would therefore remain silent. An invited witness canceled his appearance in the courtroom on Wednesday morning.

However, the 20-year-old made concessions on one charge: Violation of the Weapons Act. Although he was banned from carrying a weapon, he was in possession of a samurai sword at the time of his arrest. “It’s decoration for me,” he told the judge. And the judge wanted to know what the picture in which he was holding a golden pistol in his hands had to do with it. The photo has been circulating on social media for two years.

Those witnesses who appeared in court were questioned in the defendant’s absence. A verdict is expected in the early evening.
