“The Rieder Messe 2025 will be great in terms of program,” promises trade fair director Helmut Slezak. In 1867 the agricultural and autumn mass celebrated its premiere in Ried, and almost 160 years later it lost nothing to its radiance. “The fair in Ried is the largest in all of Austria this year and will once again be a meeting point for the agricultural industry, economy and politics from September 4th to 7th,” says Slezak, who has been the managing director of Messe Ried for around 21 years. The OÖN are there as media partners.
For Slezak it is the eleventh autumn fair. By 2017, Marieluise Dietringer, who worked for almost 40 years at the Ried trade fair, was the right hand of the 58-year-old as project manager. With Fabian Berneder there has been a new main contact for 2021: “Fabian Berneder is on a very good way to become a worthy successor for Marieluise Dietringer. This is a kind of knighthood,” says Slezak and adds: “In the past two decades, the fact that we have a great team that does an excellent work.” Among other things, the number of press conferences has changed. “I can still remember that we used to have media dates in Prague, Budapest, Vienna, Salzburg and Munich,” says the trade fair chief and smiles.
“Very big cinema”
“Including the Rieder Volksfest, almost 600 exhibitors come to us this year. The agricultural area is still a huge topic, our stands are completely sold out. We increased ourselves compared to the autumn fair in 2023. What we show in agricultural technology is really big cinema,” says project manager Berneder. When asked where the major challenges are in the planning, Berneder replies: “It is important to take into account wishes and sensitivities of the exhibitors. But this is only possible with a great team. I myself am a friend of open communication, then you will usually find a common solution.”
