The public prosecutor’s office accuses two Serbs of numerous violent crimes, thefts and burglaries, who are currently facing charges before the Vienna Regional Court. They were charged by a 21-year-old compatriot who was not legally sentenced to 19 years in prison in December for the robbery and murder of a jeweler and other brutal attacks.
After his arrest, the young man made a comprehensive confession in which he heavily incriminated the two accused. Yesterday he repeated his statements in court again under a duty of truth. The 61-year-old and the 34-year-old were his accomplices in several crimes.
For example, the 34-year-old is said to have broken into an apartment with the 21-year-old on February 29, 2020 and hit the owner on the head with an iron bar. They then stole gold coins with a total value of 15,000 euros from the seriously injured man.
The 61-year-old is said to have given the younger men tips and been a lookout. The man’s lawyer denied that his client could only walk with crutches after an accident and was unable to stand or hold things for long periods of time. The younger defendant confessed to most of the burglaries but denied involvement in the robberies.
The hearing was adjourned to mid-March, more witnesses are to be summoned.
