A man had called the police and stated that his friend had been shot with a gas pistol, it was said on Wednesday. The 38-year-old was found lying motionless on the ground with two to three gunshot wounds to his upper body, according to investigators. He was hit in the front with a sharp handgun, Dittrich said. The murder weapon has not yet been discovered.
The professional rescue brought the seriously injured to the hospital under resuscitation. The man could no longer be helped, he died when he was admitted to the hospital, the police spokesman confirmed.
So far, no relatives of the Turkish citizen have been found in Austria. Attempts are being made to inform the victim’s family through diplomatic channels, said Dittrich.
In the evening, however, the 38-year-old’s environment began to be questioned, such as the neighbors in the municipal building on Troststrasse. So far, nothing can be said about the background to the crime, emphasized Dittrich, “for reasons of investigation tactics”. There was no further information about the man who called the police.
