Green for Tempo 30 in the Neustadtviertel

Basically everything sounds very simple. Traffic-calming measures such as a general 30 km/h zone would slow down speeders and improve the quality of life for residents. But of what use is it when the residents have been pleading for this for many years and recently those responsible for the “Kindergarten for All” have drawn attention to the dangerous situation along Humboldtstrasse (the OÖN reported), only politically there is little will to act on the actual state to change something.

“New traffic officer, old problem” – that’s how the Green Club chairman Helge Langer sums up the dilemma. It cannot go on like this, says Langer, is in favor of a reallocation of the existing street space and wants a 30 km/h speed limit across the entire Neustadtviertel. There will be another motion for this in the municipal council.

This seems necessary, since the unanimous decision in the municipal council for a “prompt concept for traffic calming measures in the inner city and adjacent districts” turned out to be an empty demand in reality. Nothing happened on the streets of the New Town Quarter.

Now Langer wants to see suitable measures implemented by traffic officer Bernhard Baier (VP) to solve the problem of speeders. So far, Baier has been on the brakes, as reported, and spoke out vehemently against 30 km/h. The next municipal council meeting will take place on March 17th.
