Pokémon hunt again in Linz

Pokémon hunt again in Linz

After the successful Pokémon Go birthday party in the summer of last year, 3000 players are expected in Linz for the Pokémon Go Tour.

On Saturday, February 26, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., a virtual world will cover the city. This will ignite the “hunting instinct” of the Pokémon fans, who will go hunting for points in Linz. Along with Berlin, Warsaw and London, the state capital is one of 14 selected cities in Europe where the event takes place.

The playing area is right in the center between City Park and Lentos Art Museum. “We are pleased to once again be able to offer our community a contact point in the unique city setting of Linz. The collaboration and hospitality of the city lays a solid foundation for what we hope will be many more collaborative projects in the future,” said Lena Cillis, Pokemon Go Live Events Marketing Manager at Niantic, Inc.

In Linz, too, people are happy about the new Pokémon event. After all, not only the city center is animated by the players, they also visit shops and bars at the same time. Once again the city is a hub for technology and encounters. The participants would not only play, but also get to know the city, says Linz Tourism Director Georg Steiner.

Together with Upper Austria Tourism and the City of Linz, Linz Tourism has been trying for years to establish a long-term partnership with Niantic in order to establish the Pokémon GoEvents in Linz. It is therefore great that there are always points of contact. Johannes Auer, responsible for market management and digitization at Upper Austria Tourism and an enthusiastic Pokémon Go player, explains: “The dazzling Pokémon in Mural Harbor or the ‘golden hiking pin’ for the summit victory: Discovering and conquering new places in a playful way is in our blood.”
