Elch “Emil” has been on the road in the state as a “Election Lower Austrian” for around two and a half weeks. On Saturday evening he apparently also paralyzed traffic on the western railway line. “Due to animals in the track area (Emil), no trips are expected to be possible in St.Pölten Hbf until 9:30 p.m.,” said the ÖBB homepage. “The trains are waiting for the lock for the time being.”

It had already been known that Emil had also discovered the way to the state capital. After he had shouted at St. Pölten in the past few days, he recently roamed there. On the Facebook fan page “Emil the moose”, the animal continues to be accompanied virtually, and more than 9,800 group members were recorded on Saturday.

On the way in St. Pölten

In the past few days, “Emil” was repeatedly seen in the Pottenbrunn district of St. Pölten, as reported several media. On Saturday there were also sightings in other areas of the state capital. The moose is likely to come from Poland and hike to Lower Austria via the Czech Republic.

Meanwhile, the path of the moose is eagerly traced on Facebook. Again and again there are also comments on the fan side with which “Emil” health is desired. In addition, there are appeals to leave the animal on its way through the federal state in peace as possible.

“Moose don’t need fans”

On Saturday, the St. Pölten animal protection association also hit the same notch in an online posting. Meetings of onlookers therefore “absolutely avoided”: “Please do not go there,” it said. Menches are escape animals, “they can get along alone in nature and do not need human closeness or even ‘fans'”. As a recommendation: “leave ‘Emil’ in peace, observe and only inform the authorities in an emergency – if he is in a dangerous situation from which he no longer comes out.”
