Today is the first day of school in Upper Austria, for many the course for many. Because hardly a decision influences the personal life path as much as the choice of career and training. Does it go to a secondary school? Should an apprenticeship be completed, and if so, which one? Because there are more than 200 apprenticeships in Austria, so the selection is large. There will be help in Wels at the beginning of October: the “Jugend & Profession” trade fair takes place from October 1 to 4. “More than 300 exhibitors will be present, 80 percent are going on, ten percent schools and ten percent,” said Doris Hummer, President of the Upper Austria Chamber of Commerce, at a press interview on Monday. 18 exhibitors are new. “Youth & Profession” is the largest educational and professional fair in Austria.
- 1300 apprentices have not yet found a apprenticeship
The fair has been taking place for 36 years. There have been many changes and further developments over time: For example, there is the possibility to digitally explore the fair in advance. Dozens of professions can also be tried on site at the stands in “living workshops”: from mixing cocktails to the setting of bricks, from programming to carpentry work. There are also additional offers, such as the option of having an application photo taken, and a scavenger hunt. There are also preparatory courses for students from the Chamber of Commerce, 71 classes have already used the offer. At the fair, parents of young people who traditionally play a major role in the training election are also welcome.
