The Russian aviation authorities stressed that they reserve the right to apply mirror measures in response to the ban on Aeroflot flights to the UK.
“The UK aviation authorities have been notified of the need to comply with the provisions of the air service agreement. The Russian side reserves the right to apply mirror measures in accordance with the provisions of the intergovernmental agreement in order to comply with the principle of parity and provide equal rights for the designated airlines, ”RIA Novosti quotes the message.
According to the agency, UK airlines plan to operate more than 70 transit flights in Russian airspace on Friday.
On the eve of British Prime Minister Boris Johnson announced new sanctions against Russia in connection with the situation in Ukraine. In particular, the Russian company Aeroflot fell under them. Britain will ban flights from this airline from landing in their country.
As a result, Aeroflot canceled flight SU2578 from Moscow to London on February 25, passengers were offered a refund or the opportunity to rebook tickets for subsequent dates or alternative routes.
