Delta Airlines, based in the United States, on February 25 decided to withdraw the code-share agreement with the Russian Aeroflot. This was reported on the website of the organization.
“Delta has canceled codeshare services with the Russian airline Aeroflot. The decision is effective immediately,” Delta Airlines was informed.
Cooperation with one of the largest American airlines meant the joint commercial operation of an air flight with two or more organizations engaged in air transportation.
On the Delta Airlines website, the former Russian partner also disappeared from the list.
Earlier on the same day, S7 decided to cancel all flights to Europe until March 13 due to the closure of airspace with European countries. We are talking about directions to Burgas, Varna, Munich, Vienna, Dusseldorf, Berlin, Verona, Bologna, Milan, Alicante, Barcelona, Larnaca, Paphos, Thessaloniki, Nice and Paris.
On February 25, the spokesman for the Polish Cabinet of Ministers, Piotr Muller, said that the ban for Russian air carriers on flights in Polish airspace would come into effect from midnight (02:00 Moscow time) on February 26. Also, Czech Prime Minister Petr Fiala said that the country would soon decide to close its airspace for some Russian airlines.
On the morning of February 24, Russian President Vladimir Putin, in his special televised address, announced that an operation would be carried out in the Donbass to protect the civilian population. After that, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky accused Russia of hitting the country’s military infrastructure and introduced martial law throughout Ukrainian territory.
