Car touched patrol car in chase on A8

The 26-year-old from Bavaria was noticed by a civil patrol at the Haid junction because he had crossed the restricted area at the entrance to the Wels autobahn. The officials took up the chase and set clear stop signs several times, all of which the driver ignored. When he tried to stop for the second time near the Pucking car park, the German continued undeterred in the direction of Suben.

A patrol from the Wels motorway police called in to reinforce them tried their luck again and also failed. The first accident occurred during a risky maneuver after the Linet reversal. The 26-year-old tried to overtake the patrol car in front of him on the right, as the civil patrol was driving on his left at the same level.

His car touched the police car, but the German drove on anyway. The patrol car then sat in front of the car again and reduced the speed, whereupon a rear-end collision abruptly ended the young man’s escape.

He was arrested and taken to API Wels. Alcohol and drug tests were negative, the 26-year-old is reported to the public prosecutor’s office in Wels. No one was injured in the chase, police said in the evening.
