The Ukrainian President confirmed that next week he will be in New York to meet with his American couple, within the framework of the UN Assembly.
The president of Ukraine, Volodimir Zelenskiconfirmed that next week he will travel to New York To meet with the US president Donald Trump within the framework of the United Nations General Assembly. As he said, in that meeting he will seek to address the security guarantees that his country claims as a condition to advance in possible peace negotiations with Russia.
The expected face to face with Trump will coincide with the stay of Javier Milei In New York, which will turn the UN Assembly into a scenario loaded with diplomacy, with an eye on both the war in Ukraine and the bilateral agenda between the United States and Latin America.
Maximum tension in Europe
The announcement occurs in a maximum tension context in Eastern Europe. In recent days, Russia intensified attacks against Ukrainian territorylaunching a massive offensive with more than 600 drones and missiles on at least nine regions, including DNIPROPETROVSK, MYKOLAIV, CERNIHIV, ZAPORIZHZHIA, POLTAVA, kyiv, ODESA, SUMY AND JARKIV. In this scenario, Zelenski remarked that the trip to New York will aim to insist with the need for harden the sanctions against Moscow and, at the same time, ensure the commitment of their allies on defense.
“We want to know how close we are to have a real security guarantees framework,” said the president, who also said that his wife will maintain a parallel encounter with the first lady of the United States to address humanitarian issues related to Ukrainian children.
During his visit, Zelenski will also seek to advance in the economic agreements achieved with Washington, including the Strategic mineral exchange which gives the United States access to natural resources from Ukraine in exchange for investments for the reconstruction of the country.
