Latvian TV cameraman stopped rebroadcasting some Russian channels

From February 26, the largest telecommunications company in Latvia, Tet, will stop rebroadcasting a number of TV channels in the country associated with the Russian authorities and persons falling under international sanctions. This was announced by the company on Friday, February 25.

“At this difficult time for Ukraine and the entire European society, when the Russian Federation unleashed an unimaginable aggression against Ukraine, Tet decided on all TV platforms of the enterprise to stop rebroadcasting channels whose owners or officials are associated with the government of the Russian Federation, fall under international sanctions or about the status of which at the moment it is impossible to obtain full information,” the message says.

The decision takes effect immediately, and on the night of Saturday, February 26, the rebroadcasting of PBK Estonia, MirTV, THT, Friday International, THT4 International, CTC Baltics, RTVi, THT Music, KHL, Auto Plus, Nauka, Perets!, RBC TV channels will be stopped , 1+2, My Planet, Home.

Earlier, the National Council for Electronic Media (NCESMI) of Latvia blocked access to the sites ntv.ru, rus24.tv, teledays.net, which allowed watching Russian TV channels via the Internet.

It is noted that the full list of resources is published on the NSESMI portal. Such a decision to block such sites was made for the first time.

Before this year, it became known that the portals of the All-Russian State Television and Radio Broadcasting Company, Channel One and other television companies banned in the country, following the RT in Russian website, could also be blocked in Latvia. In early February last year, the National Council announced a ban on the rebroadcasting of 16 Russian-language TV channels in the country, including REN TV Baltic and NTV Mir Baltic.
