With “full of joy”, but “wistful” Landesgartenschau managing director Andrea Berghammer looks at the last days of the major event that has given the city a special shine under the motto “Innsgrün” in recent months. The 222,000-visitor brand was recently cracked. “We have set ourselves the goal of inspiring visitors beyond the national borders. The fact that we were now able to welcome more than 222,000 guests shows that we are full on course. Together we want to celebrate a wonderful garden show season on October 5,” says Berghammer.
100 new parking spaces
As reported, the State Garden Show has developed into an economic factor for the region. “With its attraction and attractiveness, the state garden show strengthens the Schärding location as a promising living and economic area and increases the identification of the citizens with its city,” says Berghammer. The garden show promoted tourism, diversity and sustainable urban development-“central building blocks for a lively city center,” emphasizes the State Garden Show managing director.
The sustainability of the State Garden Show is also evident on the grounds. When creating the terrain concept, environmental and nature conservation goals, resource-saving construction methods and long-term green and open space concept were respected. Much of what was built on the grounds on the occasion of the State Garden Show is also preserved in the city after October 5. The Waldarboretum with more than 400 new trees, the water and meadow playground and the fitness islands are just three of many examples that the Schärdinger Grüntal should enrich. In addition to the Raiffeisen technology and start-up center, almost 100 new parking spaces will be built on the fairground. The seating, play equipment and the Mediterranean terraces remain on the inner countries. “The four areas should continue to carry the garden show in the future by preserving many aspects and thus enriching the city,” says Berghammer.
