Around 10 p.m., the man informed the police that he had seen a break-in at a snack bar.
The police then launched a search for the perpetrators and were soon able to find two suspects in the vicinity of the snack bar – a 17-year-old and an 18-year-old, both from the Steyr-Land district – in the entrance area of a residential building with the obvious stolen goods place. Another person was able to escape.
The two boys immediately confessed and named a 21-year-old from Steyr as the ringleader, who came to the police station while the two young people were being questioned. The young man screamed and behaved extremely aggressively: he kicked and punched CCTV and a patrol car, causing extensive property damage before fleeing again. However, the officers arrested him in the Hochstrasse area after a short escape.
Due to his aggressive behavior, the 21-year-old was transferred to the Garsten prison by order of the Steyr public prosecutor’s office – five other burglaries were clarified during his interrogation. The 18-year-old boy was also proven to have broken open a newspaper register in Sierning. The 17-year-old and the 18-year-old were reported.
