The man was noticed by the police officers shortly before midnight on Salzburgerstrasse when he turned off at a petrol station exit in the direction of the city and ignored a restricted line. He accelerated so hard that the tires went flat. The police officers were able to stop the 20-year-old from the Wels-Land district a little later. When the driver and vehicle were checked, the man claimed that he had forgotten his driver’s license and registration certificate at home. He just wanted to quickly buy syrup for his little daughter.
When querying his data in the driver’s license register, however, it turned out that the man does not have a valid driver’s license. His explanation: He is currently attending a driving school to finally get a driver’s license. Because he couldn’t prove a registration certificate apart from the driver’s license, the police officers checked the license plate number of the car – which was registered to a completely different car. The 20-year-old didn’t have a warning vest or a breakdown triangle with him either. He finally confessed and put it on record that he had taken the “Taferl” from his friend’s car without his knowledge.
