No cigarettes: Man stabbed at Linz Central Station

A 64-year-old from Linz was walking around the main train station around 12:20 p.m. on Saturday when he was approached at the former ABC buffet by an unknown young man in his early 20s with a foreign accent. When asked if he had a cigarette with him, the 64-year-old passer-by said no and wanted to continue walking.

But the perpetrator, who was accompanied by another man, chased after him, overtook him and stabbed him in the chest with an as yet unknown sharp object.

The victim was able to drag himself to the central station police station, where officers immediately summoned emergency medical help. The 64-year-old was admitted to the Kepler Klinikum after first aid. According to initial estimates, his injuries were not life-threatening.

An immediate manhunt was launched for both men. Both perpetrators have black hair, were wearing dark clothes at the time of the crime and are in their early 20s. They also wore FFP2 masks. The police are asking for relevant information.
