“The embassy received an emergency call from the captain of a Russian freighter, during which he reported the detention of the vessel by the French authorities in the English Channel”reported the diplomatic mission.

He added that the consular department of the embassy immediately contacted the French authorities to obtain clarification in this regard.

The European Union added Putin and Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov to its list of sanctions, the High Representative of the Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Josep Borrell, said this Friday at a press conference after the Council of EU Foreign Affairs in Brussels.

“So President Putin and Foreign Minister Lavrov are on the sanction list along with the rest of the Duma members who are supporting this aggression,” Borrell added.
