Eight an hour, on average from 2019 to 2024, 73,000 game accidents per year pass in Austria, including 14,500 in Upper Austria. In more than 55 percent of cases, according to the Board of Trustees for Road Safety (KFV), drivers collide with a deer, in second place in statistics there are more than 20 percent rabbits.
“Unfortunately, we are a very decayed country with many streets,” says Christopher Böck, managing director of the State Hunting Association. “This is the disadvantage of the cultural landscape in Upper Austria.” Because this increases the risk of colliding with a wild animal, the wild biologist said in an interview with the OÖN.
