“Our teams have begun to suspend the ability for some networks to generate revenue on YouTube, including RT channels around the world,” a spokesperson said.
Likewise, he specified that the recommendations to users so that they choose those channels will be “very limited”.
“And in response to a government request, we have restricted access to RT and several other channels in Ukraine,” YouTube noted.
While Facebook, one of the services offered Goal, followed suit by claiming to have banned Russian public media outlets from making money on its platform, said Nathaniel Gleicher, the platform’s head of security policy.
“We now ban Russian state media from running ads or monetizing on our platform anywhere in the world,” he explained.
“We are also continuing to apply labels to other Russian state media. These changes have already started to be implemented and will continue through the weekend,” it added.
While Twitter decided to temporarily suspend ads in Ukraine and Russia and minimize the “risks associated with the conflict” in the invaded country.
“We temporarily paused ads in Ukraine and Russia to ensure that critical public safety information is elevated and ads do not detract from it,” the company detailed in a part released from the social network itself.
“We are actively monitoring the risks associated with the conflict in Ukraine, including identifying and disrupting attempts to amplify false and misleading information,” it warned.
