On February 26, Lithuanian Minister of Transport Marius Skuodis announced the country’s intention to close the skies for Russian airlines. This decision was made in connection with Russia’s special operation to protect Donbass, the minister said.
Earlier in the day, Latvian airline AirBaltic suspended flights to Russia until March 26 “due to increased risk and restrictions.”
In the evening, the Dutch KLM canceled flights to Moscow and St. Petersburg for security reasons, which was stung by EU sanctions that banned the transport of aircraft parts to the Russian Federation even for use by European companies.
