The 77-year-old from the Ried district was on the L503 at around 7 a.m. when she came off the street in a forest in a curve. The car pushed against a tree in the area of the driver’s door and then slid down about meters above a embankment.

“We had to use hydraulic rescue devices to get the woman out of the car,” says operations manager Markus Danzer from the fire brigade Aspach, which was called together with the Mettmach fire brigade. “We had to remove the passenger door and the roof.” After the helpers carefully freed the seriously injured woman out of the car, she was taken to the hospital with the rescue helicopter.

During the mission, the L503 was totally closed in the area of the accident site, says Danzer. The traffic was redirected. It was not yet known why the woman got off the street with her car.
