At 12.20 it was a man from Linz (64) who was stabbed by an unknown young man. At 1:30 p.m., a Steyrer (52) knew his heavily drunk attacker, a 50-year-old from the neighborhood.

The later victim was standing in front of the residential building in the Ennsleiten district and was talking to his brother when the man with the knife appeared. The men knew each other because there had been “conflicts in the past,” the police said. The concrete background to the crime is still “unclear”.

“I’ll stab you” – “Yes, when?”

The 50-year-old Austrian came closer and closer to the two-year-old and finally threatened: “I’ll stab you.” Apparently he didn’t take the drunk’s threat seriously, because he asked: “Yes, when?” The accused then countered: “Now” and stabbed him with a knife.

Once, the stitch went to the lumbar region. A passer-by was able to overpower and hold the alleged perpetrator until the police arrived and arrested the 50-year-old. Meanwhile, the victim himself alerted the rescue team. Fortunately, the man should not have suffered life-threatening injuries, it said. An alcohol test carried out on the accused showed 2.3 per mille. Prosecutor Andreas Pechatschek announced that detention had been requested. It is being investigated for attempted murder.

Previously in Linz, a 64-year-old passer-by was seriously injured by a stab with a sharp object. The bloody deed happened in the area of ​​Linz’s main train station at the former ABC buffet. A young man in his early 20s addressed the man from Linz in a foreign dialect and asked if he had a cigarette. The passer-by said no and walked on.

But the perpetrator, who was accompanied by another young man, pursued the 64-year-old, overtook him and stabbed him in the chest. The two men ran away. The 64-year-old dragged himself to the nearby central station police station, and the officers immediately called the emergency doctor. An immediate search for both men was initiated, but this was unsuccessful. Both have black hair, were wearing dark clothes and FFP2 masks at the time of the crime. The police are asking for relevant information.

A spokeswoman for the Kepler Klinikum announced on Saturday that the 64-year-old was “fortunately not seriously injured”. An operation was not necessary, the patient is in the normal ward.
