“At this moment, two years ago, Israel faced the darkest day in its history. On October 7, the Palestinian jihadists of Hamas invaded our land, killing, burning and kidnaping innocent men, women and children,” said the Israel Foreign Ministry of Foreign Affairs, which spread a video with scenes of the attack and moments of reunions between hostages and family members.

The message was completed with a “Two years later, we remember on October 7: we remember the victims, we pray for the return of the hostages that still remain retained in Gaza and remain united against terrorism. You have to dismantle Hamas to end this war. ”

A conflict that left thousands of dead civilians

The attack of October 7, 2023 caused the death of 1,219 people – mostly civilians – and the kidnapping of 251 hostages by Hamas. Of these, 47 continue in captivity, including 25 who, according to the Israeli army, would have already died.

The Israeli military offensive in Gaza as retaliation has not ceased since then and left at least 67,160 deadalso mostly civilians, according to data from the Ministry of Health of Gaza – controlled by Hamas – that are considered reliable by the United Nations.

This Tuesday, in addition, Israel’s defense forces activated alarm sirens in the Neiv Haasara community, close to the Gaza Strip, after a new attack. No injured were reported.
