Football Lower House: Eberschwang finally wants to break the “derby curse”.

Eberschwang coach Josef Bögl can be happy with his team. In the first eight rounds of the championship, the SVE scored 13 points and has already accumulated more points than in the entire first half of the season. The Bögl team has been unbeaten for three games – on Saturday they definitely want to extend this short series in order to end another one at the same time: Eberschwang welcomes their “eternal” local rivals from Hohenzell to the derby at the local sports center (kick-off 4 p.m.). The Eberschwanger have been without a win against the reigning runner-up for nine games or 14 years. The last derby success came on September 2, 2011 (result 5:4).

“We want to win every game, the team has what it takes. It’s very clear that we want to leave the field as winners on Saturday. Every series has to break at some point,” says Bögl, who has been on the Eberschwanger sidelines since the beginning of the year.

The ex-Ried professional breathed new life into the team – and must still be happy to still be able to play with them in the South District League: In the fight against relegation, the SVE ultimately had to admit defeat in the relegation against Jeging in June. The return to the 1st class after the district league premiere season seemed sealed. But then SK Schärding withdrew from the fighting team, Eberschwang was allowed to stay second to last in the district league with the best points – and now has the chance to break the “derby curse” against Hohenzell again.

Use momentum

The signs for this have probably not been so good for a long time. In contrast to the SVE, Hohenzell is currently having a “results crisis” and has not won in four games. They are currently in 12th place in the table with nine points. A new situation for HSV, which didn’t lose a single game in the last second half of the season and even ended up in first place in the spring table, ahead of champions Ohlsdorf. “It’s not that easy for us at the moment,” says Hohenzell coach Werner Sickinger. “We have problems, especially on the offensive, in creating opportunities for ourselves and then using them. In general, there are a lot of little things that are coming together at the moment,” says Sickinger, who, however, was able to see an improvement in his team’s performance in the 0-0 draw against St. Marienkirchen/Wallern 1b – especially in the fighting area.
