The week started really well for SV Oberbank Ried offensive player Mark Grosse. On Monday, the 26-year-old was named the best player of the last second division season. With eleven goals and eleven assists, Grosse played a significant role in Rieder’s rise. The test match on Friday at Hertha Wels was less positive for Grosse. After a collision with the Wels goalkeeper after around an hour of play, Grosse remained dazed on the grass. After about 15 to 20 minutes, the 26-year-old was taken to the hospital by emergency doctor. According to SV Ried sports director Wolfgang Fiala, a concussion was diagnosed there. In addition, a piece of a tooth may have broken off. “That was a really scary moment for all of us,” says Fiala in an interview with OÖNachrichten. The 2-1 win in the friendly against the second division team was completely pushed into the background.
Grosse, who recently scored a goal and prepared another goal in the 2-0 home win against WSG Tirol, spent Saturday night in hospital. It is unlikely that Grosse will be used in the Rieder footballers’ upcoming game on Saturday, October 18th.
