The Federal Government activated the DN-III-E Plan and deployed more than 5,400 troops from the Secretariat of National Defense, the Navy and Civil Protection. President Claudia Sheinbaum is leading the operations.

The intense rains recorded in Mexico during the last few days left a balance of at least 41 people dead and 27 missing, in addition to thousands of homes affected in several states of the country.

The states hardest hit by rainfall, floods and landslides are Veracruz, Hidalgo, Puebla and Querétarowhere authorities reported overflowing rivers, building collapses and serious damage to roads and hospitals.

The torrential rains affected 982 kilometers of federal highways, of which 647 have already been repaired, although emergency tasks persist in several regions. In the last hours of Saturday, the National Civil Protection Coordination (CNPC) notified the restoration of electrical service to 75%24 (241,052 users), but there are still users without services (79,331).

The role of Claudia Sheinbaum

lPresident Claudia Sheinbaum held a virtual meeting with the governors of the most affected states to coordinate emergency actions and assess damage, which includes the destruction of roads, hospitals and homes, as well as landslides.

Authorities continue to monitor 41 communities, where risk reduction and humanitarian assistance plans are implemented to mitigate the impact of the catastrophe.
