The Israeli army has a scanning process ready for the coffins in which the remains of the dead hostages will be delivered, to detect that there are no explosives inside.

Then, an Israeli forensic team will recognize the identity of the deceased by taking DNA samples and subsequently comparing them with samples from immediate family members.

Gaza tries to rise among ruins

As negotiations progress, thousands of Palestinians return to their homes in Gaza, on the third day of the truce. However, many found only rubble. Local authorities reported that dozens of bodies were recovered among the remains of destroyed buildings.

Part of the humanitarian aid is entering the territory through the border crossings with Egypt and Israel, although the total volume has not yet been specified.

“The challenge now is to stabilize access to food, water and fuel. The magnitude of the damage remains unquantifiable,” said a UN official in Rafah.

A fragile political balance

The political context in Israel and the region remains fragile. Netanyahu faces internal and external pressures to complete the complete release of the hostages and move towards a diplomatic solution, while the Arab governments demand security guarantees for Palestinians.

“No one wants to go back to point zero,” commented a European diplomat. “But everyone knows that lasting peace in Gaza will require more than hostage swaps.”

With the world’s gaze on the regionthe next 24 hours will be decisive. If the release goes ahead as planned, the deal could mark the start of a new stage of regional negotiationswith the Post-conflict Gaza as a central axis.
