The body “strongly condemns the brutal attacks on innocent lives in Ukraine, which go against World Taekwondo’s vision that “Peace is more precious than victory”, as well as against “the values of respect and tolerance”.
In an official statement, the entity that brings together taekwondo in the world issued the sanction for the Russian president, a fervent practitioner of this discipline.
After Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, different sports organizations and entities began to issue sanctions against Russian teams, clubs and athletes.
In addition, the World Taekwondo echoed the suggestion of the International Olympic Committee (IOC), to omit the flag and anthem of Russia and its ally Belarus in all competitions.
