International solidarity and awareness about Gaza

The activist highlighted that the experience is part of a “international solidarity”of people coming together to do what governments don’t do. “But above all, this is about the people who live in Gaza,” he said. Thunberg noted that the treatment received by the flotilla reflects the fate of the Palestinians: “If they treat a well-known white person with a Swedish passport like this… Imagine what they do to Palestinians behind closed doors.”

During the interview, he described the state of the prisons he visited, with bullet holes, traces of blood and messages from former Palestinian prisoners: “What we have had to go through is only a small part of what Palestinians experience.” The activist also highlighted the commitment of the 500 flotilla crewbetween 18 and 78 years old, including Jews who rejected that the abuses in Gaza were carried out in their name.
