The president of USA, Donald Trumprefiled this Thursday a defamation lawsuit against The New York Times for US$15 billion, just a month after a similar action was dismissed by a judge.
Since his return to the White House, The Republican intensified his hostility towards the media through legal action and restricted access to their press conferences.
The reason would respond to “defamatory, false and malicious statements” against him, according to the text.

“This legal action concerns numerous defamatory, false and malicious statements about President Trump made by the people sued for two articles and a book,” said the text of the lawsuit, to which the AFP agency had access.
Last September, Florida federal judge Steven Merrydaydismissed a first lawsuit against The New York Times for its inappropriate style, praise of Trump and its excessive length of 85 pages. The magistrate gave 28 days to present it again.
The new complaint is against The New York Times, three of its journalists and the publisher Penguin Random Housewho published a newspaper book about the president’s fortune.
“The statements in question wrongly defame and disparage President Trump’s hard-earned professional reputation, which he meticulously built over decades before entering the White House,” the document added.
In July, Trump sued the tycoon Rupert Murdoch and to the newspaper The Wall Street Journal for about US$10,000 million after the media revealed the existence of a book and an alleged letter that the president sent to the deceased financier Jeffrey Epstein.
That same month, the group paramount agreed to pay $16 million to the president for coverage by the CBS News channel’s “60 Minutes” program. Trump accused the program of manipulating an interview with the Republican candidate Kamala Harristhen her rival in the elections, to favor her.
