In the end, her apartment was broken into and set on fire. On the fourth day of the trial, some witnesses who had been summoned ex officio and provided by the defense were heard. First, the parents of those affected had their say.

“I’ve never seen her so exhausted,” said the teacher’s father. First she confided in her younger sister, then her parents found out “what happened to her. That she was blackmailed, robbed, raped by a gang of young people. Drugs, violence, humiliation.” The woman’s father said money had also been stolen from her, once a money box with 800 euros, then banknotes saved for a vacation from a handbag.

Father: “She was totally crazy”

The father said his daughter was put under pressure with “compromising photos.” His daughter didn’t want to go to the police because she feared that knowledge of her contacts with young people would spread around the school: “She said it would end badly in her career. She was totally confused.” Then there was silence for a while; his daughter believed that the defendants had lost interest in her. Despite this, she continued to be under pressure: “That it would come out was her biggest fear. The shame. Her colleagues blocked her. She had no one apart from us. She was socially disconnected.”

The main defendants – a 15-year-old Iraqi, a 17-year-old Romanian and a 15-year-old Afghan – have been in custody for eight months. They have not confessed to the central allegations – including rape and sexual abuse – but they admit to arson. A total of seven boys have to answer before a jury, including a now 17-year-old former student of the teacher, with whom the woman is said to have briefly had a consensual and therefore criminally harmless sexual relationship. The young person was 16 years old at this time. He is only accused of being involved in the theft of the money box from the teacher’s apartment.

Youngest defendant during the period in which the crime was incriminated was partly still under the age of criminal responsibility

According to the prosecution, the teacher made herself open to blackmail by knowing about her relationship with the young person. Several accused attacked her violently and sexual assaults were said to have occurred. The youngest defendant, who according to the indictment was not directly involved, was still 13 at the time and therefore of legal age. He was also there when the 15-year-old main defendants broke into the woman’s apartment on the night of January 16, 2025 and set fire to it. At this point he had been 14 for just over two weeks, so he had to stand trial for his involvement in the arson.

The intruders had gathered jewelry and other valuables and then set fires in two places. The apartment burned down completely. Only thanks to the rapid intervention of the professional fire brigade could the flames be prevented from spreading to other parts of the apartment building.
