A 47-year-old driver was flown to the accident hospital in Salzburg with serious injuries, the police said in the morning.
The man from the Braunau district followed a truck at around 6.25 a.m. on Mininger Straße in the direction of Weng. He started to overtake near Amberg, but the truck driver – a 61-year-old from the Braunau district – wanted to turn left at the same time into a gravel pit.
The collision resulted in the car veering off the left lane, overturning several times and falling over a 10-meter embankment. Finally, the car remained on the roof. The 47-year-old had to be freed from the wreckage by the fire department. The emergency doctor treated the seriously injured at the scene of the accident before the rescue helicopter came to the rescue.
