The investigation began after several family members expressed concern about contradictory statements of the daughter about his mother’s situation. The woman told the police that her mother had died. in April 2024 and that she had been buried in another city, claiming that the conflict in the Middle East made it difficult to locate the body.
A suicide in the middle of the case
According to newspaper reports The Times of Israel, the defendant’s romantic partner committed suicide in custody after it was discovered that he had participated in hiding the body.
The woman now faces charges of fraud, interference with the investigation and failing to inform authorities of his mother’s death. The Police continue to investigate the details of how the payments were managed and whether there were more people involved in the fraud, while Israeli society remains shocked by the episode.
