Help from Wels and Marchtrenk for victims of the Ukraine war

The two cities of Wels and Marchtrenk also want to make a contribution and announced support and help for the people of Ukraine on Tuesday.

In cooperation with the Society of Ukrainian Youth (TUMA), the city of Wels is starting a collection of donations in kind. Above all, warm clothing, blankets, diapers and hygiene items, haemostatic medication, painkillers, heart and blood pressure medication and bandages are needed. As of today, donations in kind can be handed in at the old fire station in Pernau (Linzer Straße 128) between 8 a.m. and 6 p.m. (probably by March 9). In addition, the city of Wels has set up the donation account “Wels helps Ukraine” (IBAN AT94 2032 0321 0062 4430).

Donations in kind are also accepted in Marchtrenk – the town has maintained a friendship with the Ukrainian city of Schytomyr for several years. The campaign started yesterday at FullHaus. The next opportunity to drop off is on Thursday from 1 p.m. to 7 p.m. The association “Heart for Ukraine” will coordinate the collection in cooperation with the city. In addition to donations in kind, the association also asks for financial support: “Heart for Ukraine – Association for Charity and Education”; Reference: Marchtrenk for Ukraine, IBAN AT87 3468 0000 0818 9086.

The first refugee family from the Ukraine has already reached Marchtrenk and is accommodated in a private household. However, since further family members are expected in the next few days, a single-family house will be made available to them. “We as a city will support the refugees as best we can, but we need the help of the citizens for this. Marchtrenker who have the opportunity to provide us with temporary living space should get in touch,” says Mayor Paul Mahr. Registrations at: wirhelfen@marchtrenk.gv.at
