Urban-village life is emerging on Sintstrasse
The historic houses in the workers’ settlement will be gutted and revitalized in accordance with listed buildings.

Strabag managers Erwin Größ, Ricarda Roth-Ringbauer and Christian Seifriedsberger sank the time capsule.

Erwin Größ, Managing Director of Strabag Real Estate Austria, is convinced that it is a project like no other in Linz. The workers’ settlement, designed 98 years ago by Linz city planning director Curt Kühne, was a pioneering workers’ housing colony for the time. Small apartments with lots of open and green space between the houses redefined social housing back then.

For years and decades, there were many considerations as to how it could be used for the characteristic workers’ settlement, which was later listed as a historical monument. With Strabag Real Estate as the project developer, a concept was developed together with the Federal Monuments Office and the city of Linz that is intended to make urban-village living possible around a green area.
