The aim of such cooperatives should be to produce clean and sustainable environmentally friendly electricity in the community and region and to consume it yourself. For Engerwitzdorf, this means that the electricity produced from existing photovoltaic systems can be distributed to other consumers in the community.
Every house and every company can thus change from an electricity consumer to an electricity producer. A household, a company or a municipality set up a photovoltaic system. The resulting surplus is not fed into the national grid, but shared with the members of this community.
All communities, companies and the population of the region are invited to take part. “The expansion of renewable energy and the establishment of these communities not only protect our climate, but also secure and support our economy,” says Mayor Herbert Fürst. A declaration of intent to participate was unanimously approved by the municipal council.
