Is Mückstein about to resign?

At the weekend there should be a change in the turquoise-green government. “Mückstein is on the brink of collapse,” headlines krone.at on Thursday morning, referring to “well-informed circles.”

A successor is said to have already been found. Johannes Rauch, currently Vorarlberg Transport and Environment Councilor, is to succeed the Viennese doctor. There was no official confirmation of this, but no denials either.

In the office of Vice Chancellor and Greens leader Werner Kogler, they did not want to comment on the rumors when asked by APA, and the Ministry of Health was initially unable to comment on Tuesday morning.

According to “Krone”, the Vorarlberg Provincial Councilor Rauch was not particularly enthusiastic about the call from Vienna, but after a period of reflection, he is said to have bowed down and promised Kogler as a gesture of friendship. At the request of the APA, the Vorarlberg Green Tips were buttoned up, but there were no denials.

According to “Austria”, the reason for Mückstein’s step is that he is said to have been “very unhappy” about the turquoise-green decisions of the past few weeks in connection with the Corona crisis. Above all, he did not want to support the complete opening on March 5th.

In April 2021, Mückstein took over the office of the Upper Austrian Green Party, Rudi Anschober. Anschober resigned after 13 months of the pandemic for health reasons.

The article will be updated as more information becomes available.
