This is what the weather will be like next week

For the time being, however, it only snows occasionally in the lowlands, the Central Institute for Meteorology and Geodynamics (ZAMG) reported on Thursday. The forecast in detail:

With a low in the high air layers over Eastern Europe Friday the eastern edge of the Alps in a cold, northerly current with a polar air mass. This means that the sky over the eastern half of the country is repeatedly covered with dense clouds during the day, with isolated snow and sleet showers falling. In the west it will remain slightly cloudy or even cloudless and therefore mostly sunny and dry. The wind blows lightly, in the east moderately from northwest to northeast. The temperature reaches maximum values between one degree in higher valleys and nine degrees at Lake Constance.

The low in high air layers has on Saturday its core meanwhile over Central Italy. However, the cold, north-easterly current with dense clouds in the eastern half of Austria continues. It can still snow a little locally, especially in the morning. West of Salzburg it is mostly cloudless and a little milder. The wind blows slightly north to east. The early temperature is between minus eight and zero degrees, inside the Alps it can also be a bit colder. During the day, the temperature in the west will rise to eight degrees, in the east it will remain at three to six degrees with dense clouds.

At the Sunday weak high-pressure influence predominates, regionally the sun shines longer. In the eastern half of Austria in particular, however, some low cloud fields must also be expected. The wind often blows only weakly, most likely from north to east. In the morning the thermometer usually shows minus nine to minus two, during the day a maximum of about plus two to plus eight degrees.

From the north it widens Monday a low-pressure channel across the eastern edge of the Alps to the Balkan Peninsula. Already in the morning (minus eight to minus one degree) there is heavy cloud cover, especially on the north side of the Alps, and it can even snow a little in some areas where there are congested areas. Clouds and snow showers spread to many parts of the country during the course of the day (zero to plus five degrees). It is expected to remain dry in the south and south-east, where there are also the most sunny windows. The wind is picking up and blowing at times briskly from the north-west on the eastern edge of the Alps.

A decidedly cold east to north-east weather pattern characterizes Tuesday the weather character, especially in the eastern half of Austria. Deep cold air masses flow towards us from the Baltic States, a low in high air layers also brings extensive cloud cover and some snowfall or snow showers in some regions, in low areas possibly also sleet during the day. Away from congested areas and generally in the south and extreme west, the sun gets involved. On the eastern edge of the Alps and in the lowlands, moderate to brisk, icy winds will blow from the north. After early temperatures of minus seven to minus one degree, it hardly ever rises above zero to seven degrees during the day.
