One option being considered is remove Russia entirely from the institutionofficials said, though some said that would be difficult if not impossible.

“It’s being discussed, but expelling Russia entirely is probably unrealistic due to the quorum required”said a high-ranking euro zone official, referring to the broad support needed among countries that include China.

Other options being examined include the suspension of Russian voting rightsjust like him blocking your access to a special currency of the IMF, the Special Drawing Rightsofficials said. While an IMF spokesman did not immediately comment.

Special Drawing Rights (SDRs) are an IMF currency based on a basket of dollars, euros, British pounds, yen and yuan. To spend $17 billion in SDRs, Russia would have to find countries willing to redeem thema perspective that is considered unlikely.
