The President of Ukraine questioned NATO for not establishing a no-fly zone

The president questioned that “despite knowing that new bombings and new casualties are inevitable, NATO deliberately decided not to close Ukraine’s airspace.”

“We understand that NATO countries have created a story for themselves, according to which the closure of Ukraine’s airspace would provoke direct aggression by Russia against NATO,” he added.

After the meeting of those responsible for Foreign Relations, the Secretary General of NATO, Jens Stoltenberg, ruled out the chance to accede to the Ukrainian request for a no-fly zone.

“The allies agreed that we should not have planes over Ukraine’s airspace, nor NATO troops on Ukraine’s territory,” the Norwegian diplomat said.

For Stoltenberg, “the only way to implement a no-fly zone” is to send fighter jets that would have to shoot down Russian fighters operating in Ukraine, unleashing something that “could become a total war in Europe, engulfing many other countries and causing much more human suffering.

In his questions, Zelenski, in addition to speaking of “a weak and confused summit”, judged that “it was seen that not everyone considers the struggle for freedom in Europe as the number one objective”, reported the AFP and Sputnik agencies.

It has been 9 days since Russian troops entered Ukrainian territory, presumably in defense of the Donetsk and Lugansk People’s Republics, recognized by Moscow as sovereign states, and which would have asked for help in the face of “genocide” by Kiev.

Since February 24, the attack has left several hundred civilians dead, thousands of refugees in neighboring countries and hardly any open dialogue between the two countries.
